YPs join the World Bank Group on an initial two-year term contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. During their first two years, they have the unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge and experience through rotational assignments across the World Bank Group.
Additionally, YPs take part in a structured learning and talent development journey through their YP Academy. Key elements include technical and operations training, language programs, negotiation and business skills, and leadership development. YPs also receive one-on-one coaching, connect with mentors, and engage in strategy-focused dialogues with senior leaders.
The Budget, Performance Review and Strategic Planning department is a resource management function responsible for the Bank's strategic planning, budgeting, expense management, performance reporting, and internal controls.
What you will bring
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Procurement, or related field.
• 2-6 years of experience, primarily in finance/budgeting or procurement—preferably within international organizations or complex institutional environments.
• Digital Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and master data management platforms. Proficiency with AI applications, and advanced data modeling and statistical analysis is highly valued.
Technical Competencies
Finance
• Strong understanding of financial and management accounting principles, budgeting frameworks, cost analysis, and strategic resource alignment.
• Reporting and financial analysis: delivering high-quality data analytics and interpreting data for strategic insights.
• Business planning: forecasting expenditures, analyzing trends, and aligning plans with organizational goals
• Risk management and internal controls: implementing governance frameworks and mitigating business risks.
Procurement
• Experience in global procurement and category management, including sourcing strategy development, market research, and bid evaluation.
• Ability to segment spend, streamline procurement processes, and improve category management.
• Expertise in contract management and strategic advice on contract optimization and compliance.
• Proficient in risk management, ethical sourcing, governance, and sustainability initiatives.
• Strong negotiation skills to secure agreements aligned with organizational goals.
