YPs join the World Bank Group on an initial two-year term contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. During their first two years, they have the unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge and experience through rotational assignments across the World Bank Group.

Additionally, YPs take part in a structured learning and talent development journey through their YP Academy. Key elements include technical and operations training, language programs, negotiation and business skills, and leadership development. YPs also receive one-on-one coaching, connect with mentors, and engage in strategy-focused dialogues with senior leaders.

The World Bank Group supports countries to sustainably manage natural resources to create jobs, improve food security, decrease pollution, and increase resilience to climate change. What you will bring

• Advanced degree in economics, applied economics, natural resource economics, environmental economics; engineering (environmental, civil, chemical) applicable to environmental management, such as solid waste, air pollution, water pollution, environmental design; ecology with strong quantitative analytical training, science/natural science with strong technical training in environmental management, ecology, or fisheries.

• For environmental economists, 2-6 years of experience in economic analysis of environmental and natural resource problems, economic impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss, economic analysis of incentive issues in the management of environmental problems

• For environmental engineers, 2-6 years of experience in design, construction and operation infrastructures of environmental and circular economy infrastructures (wastewater treatment and reuses, waste management)

• For environmental scientists, 2-6 years of experience in solving problems related to natural resources management (biodiversity, forestry, fisheries), environmental quality management (air, water, soil, waste) and environmental management instruments (regulations, incentives, monitoring and enforcement)
