Capital Markets, Investments and Financial Products

Within Treasury, the Capital Markets, Investments & Financial Products department (CMI) is responsible for managing annual funding programs for IBRD (approx. $60-70 billion) and IDA (approx. $15-20 billion) and building sustainable capital markets, managing liquid asset portfolios for IBRD and IDA (approx. $125-135 Billion), and the asset and liability management aimed at reducing risk on IBRD and IDA's balance sheets. CMI also advises clients on loans and risk management products, and structures financial products for development. CMI places a strong emphasis on achieving the best possible financial terms within prudent market, liquidity, credit, operational, and reputational risk parameters. CMI is comprised of six teams carrying out these responsibilities. The working environment is fast-paced and dynamic, as the teams regularly deal with new ideas, projects, and challenges. 

Financial Products & Client Solutions (CMIFP) 

The team helps clients find solutions for their development financing and risk management needs leveraging IBRD and IDA’s financial products and TRE’s financial expertise and market access. It provides support for IBRD and IDA operations and clients on the full menu of financial and risk management products, pricing and loan customization, blending and co-financing, IDA to IBRD transition, and thematic bond issuance strategies and reporting, among other areas.

Key Duties and Accountabilities:

Working under the direction of the CMIFP supervisor, Financial Analyst will:

• Collaborate with senior bankers in the delivery of customized financial solutions for client countries 

• Provide indicative pricing for loan conversions and other risk management products (interest rate fixings, currency conversions, prepayments, etc.)
 
• Support day-to-day interaction with clients on IBRD financial products (loan terms and conditions, pricing, risk management, conversion options, etc.)
 
• Generate and maintain financial models to illustrate loan-specific cash flows (e.g., scenario and sensitivity analyses) for advisory on financial optimization (e.g., blend finance) and loan customizations 

• Assist in analytical work for new product development and support new team initiatives 

• Draft cost comparison reports on IBRD's lending cost vs. other sources of funding as requested (e.g., for Annual and Spring Meetings) 

• Participate along with senior bankers in the delivery of capacity building and training on IBRD financial products and financial risk management 

• Help senior bankers draft case studies and related marketing materials to promote CMIFP’s financial solutions 

• Provide ad hoc support on analytical and financial market research, learning, and outreach activities 

• Prepare corporate reports (dashboard), talking points, and briefings for senior management

Selection Criteria

• Master's degree in business or finance; and at least 2 years of relevant experience in finance, financial policy, and MDB finance matters.

• Excellent English writing and communication skills.

• Strong computer skills and a high command of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and other software such as Bloomberg and Adobe.

• Strong quantitative, analytical, and research skills.

• Ability to work, with minimal supervision, as a member of a dynamic, fast-paced team.

• Ability to independently set priorities and manage an intense, rapidly changing work program.

• Proven ability to work in a multicultural environment; strong integrative and stakeholder engagement skills.
